I have been truly blessed and deeply honored to carry the special title of Great Nephew to the legendary and iconic Kenny Rogers. His incredible legacy and timeless music have played a tremendously influential role in shaping my own musical journey and artistic expression.
“Son the game keeps changin but the truth will still hold on you got to play with what you’ve been given learn from every hand that’s drawn. It’s not all holden and folding it’s something else you need to know. To keep the game from playing you got to share with all you know”
The most remarkable thing about my great uncle Kenny is that he was embracing meta before it even became a concept. Country music is all about storytelling, but he went further—using his stories to teach valuable life lessons. That’s the legacy he wanted to leave behind. I’m absolutely certain that my own passion for teaching comes from him. What makes his song “The Gambler” so meta is that he’s essentially singing about encountering another version of himself. His music is extraordinary because songs like this will live on long after he’s gone, continuing to educate and inspire the world even in his absence. It’s an incredibly humbling honor for my cousins and me to carry on that legacy.
